FAQ

Common questions

What is the dictionary form of a Kyrgyz verb?
It ends in -уу or -үү: баруу, to go; келүү, to come. Which of the two you get is decided by vowel harmony, so once you can hear the vowels in the stem you can predict the ending.
How many Kyrgyz verbs should a beginner learn?
These hundred will carry you a long way. They come from the reviewed dictionary inside the app and were chosen for how often they come back. Learn them inside a few reusable sentence patterns and you can say far more than a hundred things.
Are Kyrgyz verbs irregular?
Refreshingly rarely. Endings attach the same way every time and only swap their vowels to match the stem. Learn the pattern once and it carries across the whole list — which is not something you can say about French.
